Wishes that came up in usability testing are put into practice

From the very beginning, the Job Market has been constructed by involving service users in its development. The latest testing will again lead to a number of improvements.

Areas for development were found, for example, in the browsing view of job postings: based on the feedback, the card-formatted view of current job postings was regarded as too open and difficult to browse. On the basis of this, we are in the process of developing the browsing of job postings into a more list-like view, allowing you to see more job postings at once.

Similarly, including words describing one's own competence and professionalism in the job search profile emerged as another major area for development. As a result, the job search profile will be one of the biggest visible changes in the Job Market at the beginning of 2020, as we are in the process of developing the profile to be more easily filled in.

Hoping for information on recruitment events

We have already reacted to smaller development areas that have emerged, such as partly condensing the page layout for easier browsing and increasing the number of links.

The uncluttered and slightly different front page received positive feedback, while also dividing opinions. In general, the Job Market's appearance and colour scheme were mainly considered as good and modern. In addition, almost 90 per cent of the respondents found the Job Market topics to be at least somewhat interesting.

The testing revealed a strong wish for work-related events, such as recruitment fairs and job search webinars, for the users to discover. We will also respond to this wish in 2020.

Testers are required from all groups

Job Market’s usability was tested using both an open questionnaire and usability tests in September 2019. The questionnaire received replies from 136 respondents, and 18 people took part in the testing. The respondents and testers included employers and individual customers from different locations and age groups.

We used the testing to determine how well the Job Market is able to meet the user’s needs in regards to, for instance, the discoverability of information, and to find out how easy it is to use the Job Market’s trial version and what areas should be improved.

Thank you to all the respondents and participants in the testing. With the help of your responses and feedback, the development of Job Market will make another leap forward.
