2021 was an eventful year for Job Market Finland

News

Another year is coming to an end, and a lot has happened in Job Market Finland. We decided to reflect on the past year and summarise the progress we have made in developing the service. What happened in Job Market Finland in 2021?

At the beginning of the year, we started piloting our regional pages. On these regional pages, we provide information on regional services, news and links to job vacancies in the area. In early 2021, we also published new videos on how to use the test version of Job Market Finland. The first video was made from the job applicant’s perspective and the second from the employer’s perspective. You can find the videos in the Current issues section on Job Market Finland’s website and on our YouTube channel.

Once a job applicant has created a profile in Job Market Finland, they will receive recommendations about job vacancies that match their knowledge, skills and preferences. The matching logic behind these recommendations was updated, which has enabled automatic recognition of the text entered in the profile's open fields. This means that the applicant will receive even better job recommendations. We have also added new filters to the “Job recommendations” page. The search results can be narrowed down by using the filters, including the type of the employment contract and the job advertisement’s publication date.

In the summer, we started collaborating with the EURES portal and published the first theme page

In June, we started collaborating with EURES. EURES is a European portal for professional mobility maintained collaboratively by various European employment services that aims at facilitating the free movement of workers. Now you can publish your job applicant profile or job advertisements on EURES and find jobs or employees elsewhere in Europe.

In the summer, we also made more content available as the first theme page was published. Various theme pages, both regional and national, containing information on projects, campaigns and services related to employment can be published in Job Market Finland. North Ostrobothnia was the first region to publish its own theme page. The “Vain parhaita puolia” (only the best parts) campaign encourages people to apply to work in the care, industry and technology sectors in North Ostrobothnia. The theme page contains information on these sectors, vacancies and municipalities as well as authentic stories about the people in the area.

At the end of year, we started piloting an import interface for job advertisements and updated the instructions for the service

In November, we started piloting an import interface for job advertisements. Employers and software houses can now use a new interface to create and manage their job advertisements in Job Market Finland.

We have also updated the page that contains instructions for using the Job Market Finland service and frequently asked questions. In the new Help Center, you can additionally read detailed instructions for creating a good job advertisement, job applicant profile and service description.

We also improved the search function of the "Services" page by adding a word search option. We also renewed the presentation pages for individual services by grouping the information more clearly. In addition, we created a page that contains Job Market Finland’s latest user numbers. We update the information at the end of every month!

During the past year, we have also been building the new e-service for public employment services which will be available in Job Market Finland after its completion.

Thank you for being a part of making Job Market Finland an even better service!
